Every name carries a story.
The name Modra comes from both language and legend. In several Slavic tongues, ‘modrá’ means blue, a color symbolic of wisdom, tranquility, and healing. The pronunciation of “modra” means “wise woman” in Bulgarian.
Modra Health was founded on a simple yet powerful truth: individual healing and systemic change are inseparable. For us, as a practice, this truth is reflected by the spirit of the heroine in Ivan Vazov’s story ‘One Bulgarian Woman.’ This elderly faces fear and danger to protect her people while caring for her sick grandchild. Her journey exemplifies resilience, love, and determination in building a better future for her family and community. The story embodies prosocial values and a macro social work approach, focusing on serving, protecting, and nurturing others, especially during challenging times. It teaches that supporting the next generation is, in fact, supporting the environment in which they thrive.
Inspired by the story’s example of commitment to the greater good, Modra Health works in a similar way. We understand that individual healing and collective growth are inseparable. Modra aims to bridge personal well-being and systems adaptation by offering therapy, coaching and consulting so all grow stronger, together.
Modra’s Mission is to support the younger generations and the communities/systems they are a part of, so they step into workplaces, families, and teams that reflect their worth tomorrow.
Hello, I’m Tatyana
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) trained in generalist social work practice at Stockton University’s MSW program. I started Modra Heath to support youth, parents, families, and teams in building connection, resilience, and confidence within their communities. My approach combines systems thinking with a focus on culturally sensitive, relational, and holistic care. As an immigrant, I understand how history and environment shape each person’s life. This perspective guides my work, as I blend therapy, cultural understanding, and a global outlook to meet people where they are.
My work has always focused on the community at large, helping children, teens, and adults find their voice, build strength, and move forward. I often use brief evidence-informed treatments and mind-body techniques to support healing and self-advocacy.
Modra is more than just a practice; it represents the future of our families. It is a partnership with youth, parents, and professionals to strengthen relationships, promote wellbeing and prevention, and create better paths forward. I believe that empowering individuals and improving systems go hand in hand in building a healthier, more connected world. In my free time, I enjoy shared experiences with loved ones around music, culture, nature, travel, and cooking.
